Le programme de résidences artistiques de l’Institut Français du Maroc, permet d’accueillir une vingtaine de résidences chaque année, destiné aux artistes issus de pays francophones et ouvert à toutes les disciplines artistiques. Ce programme agit au service de la création contemporaine et de la coopération culturelle France – Maroc pour susciter une rencontre privilégiée avec les acteurs culturels locaux et les publics de l’IFM au travers de restitutions, ce programme est un appel au dialogue des cultures.
Tétouan et Fès sont des villes monuments, classées au patrimoine mondial par l'UNESCO, j'ai été frappé par l'authenticité et la beauté de ces villes, ses deux médinas, ses habitants et ses artisans, qui perpétuent un savoir-faire issue de traditions millénaires.
L’objectif dans cette résidence est de m’enrichir de mon environnement et de rencontrer les acteurs culturels locaux. Ces résidences me permettent de créer des cartes du monde en collaborant avec des artisans dont le savoir-faire est un langage poétique à mes yeux. La transmission des savoirs est précieuse. Au cours de cette résidence, je place l’artisanat traditionnel marocain au cœur de ma pratique. Travailler avec les artisans qui perpétuent un savoir-faire issu de traditions millénaires nourrit et inspire mon travail. Le geste, l’action, c’est déjà la finalité de l’œuvre. La main, l’outil, la matière, nous enseignent. Ce qui est produit amène à la réflexion, notre main nous montre et prolonge notre pensée.
Une carte n’est pas seulement un instrument de repérage c’est l’ouvrage d’un cartographe, qui doit relever des informations, recenser et déterminer des repères, ensuite c’est une traduction en dessin et des choix de couleurs, de formes, de lettres…
Etre cartographe c’est regarder le monde en spectateur puis l’organiser, avec une certaine structure pour qu’il devienne intelligible. Les choix des cartographes nous emmènent a des perceptions du monde très variables. La carte n’est pas neutre, car le monde est matérialisé à travers des codes.

Tetouan and Fez are UNESCO world heritage cities, I was struck by the authenticity and beauty of these cities, its two medinas, its inhabitants and its craftsmen, who perpetuate a know-how of millennial traditions.
The goal in this residence is to enrich myself with my environment and to meet the local cultural actors. These residencies allow me to create maps of the world by collaborating with craftsmen whose know-how is a poetic language in my eyes. The transmission of knowledge is precious. During this residency, I place traditional Moroccan crafts at the heart of my practice. Working with artisans who perpetuate a know-how from millennia traditions nourishes and inspires my work. The gesture, the action, is already the purpose of the work. The hand, the tool, the material, teach us. What is produced leads to reflection, our hand shows us and prolongs our thought. A map is not only a locating device, it is the work of a cartographer, who must collect information, identify and determine landmarks, then it is a translation in drawing and choices of colors, forms , letters ... To be a cartographer is to look at the world as a spectator and then to organize it, with a certain structure so that it becomes intelligible. The choices of the cartographers take us to very variable perceptions of the world. The map is not neutral because the world is materialized through codes.
